PARROT-FEATHER

Parrot-feather is an introduced species from South America. The stems are often tinged with orange or red. It grows rooted and submerged in up to 3 fee of water and forms numerous roots. The main branches are emersed with the leaves in whorls of 3-6, usually pal green to gray-green, ½ to 2 inches and up to ½ inch wide. The leaves are divided into very narrow segments, spearing feathery. The submersed leaves are larger than the emersed leaves. Parrot-feather is rarely found in flower. Sonar AS is effective in controlling this plant. Also effective is Reward. For small areas, Navigate Granular may be hand applied.
