Naiad
or Southern Naiad has slender long branched stems several feet long.
The leaves are opposite, narrow, linear and mostly ¼-3/4 inch long. The
leaf edges are very finely toothed which is more noticeable under magnification.
It can form dense mats especially in shallow water up to 6-8’ deep. Reward
is very effective on naiad, especially when used in conjunction with
Captain or Cutrine-Plus Algaecide. Also effective is Sonar AS or Sonar
Q. Aquathol Super K Granular is effective for spot treating and for hand
application around the pond margins. Nautique is also quite effective
and gives very fast results.
