SPATTERDOCK

Spatterdock grows from a heavy bottom rootstock up to 4” in diameter. The leaves are either floating or erect, typically 6-12 inches long and 5-10 inches wide. The leaf stems are stout and up to 3’ long or longer. The flowers are 1 inch wide or more, globe-shaped, solitary, and yellow. Several effective materials can be used to control spatterdock. It can be sprayed with Rodeo or Shore-Klear with Cide-Kick added to the spray mixture. It can also be treated with Navigate Granular Herbicide. These may also be cut off below the water’s surface with a Water Weed Cutter II or Aquatic Weed Eradicator.
