VARIABLE-LEAF WATERMILFOIL

Variable-leaf Watermilfoil is found rooted in up to 6’ of water. The plants are thick and cylindrical and have stout stems that are usually dark red, branched and up to 1/3 inch in diameter. The leaves are in whorls of 4-6 and grow up to 2 inches long. The flowering stems are emersed (above the water) and about 6-12 inches in length. The flowers are inconspicuous and occur in whorls around the stem. Variable-leaf milfoil can be found in flower from late April to August and grow in lakes, ponds, swamps, ditches and rivers. Sonar AS works very well to control it and Navigate Granular is also very effective.
