WATER LETTUCE

Water Lettuce is capable of producing large number of plants by vegetative reproduction that can completely cover a body of water. This can result in a low oxygen situation that is dangerous to fish life. The leaves are formed in rosettes, are densely covered with light hair, are grayish to light green in color and up to 6 inches long. It is usually killed by freezing weather. Recommended control is Reward or Weedtrine-D with Cide-Kick added as a surfactant to help the herbicides penetrate past the fine leaf hairs.
